Job Purpose: The Safety Officer facilitates and controls compliance with all occupational HSSE guidelines throughout all Unique Group of companies anywhere in the world and will ensure measures to minimise hazards and fatalities or any unhealthy situations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing ONE standard for all Unique Group Companies anywhere in the world how to deal with HSSE Setting up one set of KPI’s with clear instructions how to implement and use/ report
  • Measuring the results and advising leaders in the business on various safety- related topics (use of PPE [personal protective equipment; such as the use of helmets, safety glasses, ear protection, welding protective clothing, hot tapping protective clothing, safety shoes etc.])
  • Proposing immediate changes to behaviors and activities not in compliance with the HSSE standards and follow up through leadership or executive level
  • Setting up Safety Committees at each site within the Unique Group of companies and organizing a monthly Safety Committee meeting attended by all top managers from each site (report out format to be implemented)
  • Set up proper recording system to receive information about all incidents and accidents happening within the group of companies; set up a communication matrix and time to respond (from CEO to site leader)
  • Emergency Accidents Be the single point of contact in case of an accident or incident involving personnel and customers’ personnel (to avoid legal implications of how people react to questions from third parties in case of incident or accident)
  • Inspect premises from within the group and report back to the site leader or General Manager in case the officer is missing compliance with the Group’ standards (watch for all unsafe behaviors and obstacles in the working place)
  • Introduce proper risk assessment (standardize) forms and implement accordingly

Qualifications Required:

  • Proven experience in a Safety Officer role (at least 5-10 years)
  • In depth knowledge of local and regional legislation (e.g. OSHA/ EPA) and procedures
  • Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials and practices
  • Experienced in writing reports and report outs/ policies for health safety and security
  • Proficient in MS office and safety management systems
  • BSc/BA in preferable safety management, engineering or relevant field
  • Certificate in occupational health and safety
  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene and standards in ISO14001:2004, OHSAS18001 and other relevant industry standard
