Job Role:

We are looking for a Junior Electronics Service Technician for our Australia business unit to provide necessary support and work alongside and under the direction of the Senior Service Engineer. Primarily based at Unique Group’s Perth office, the role will require some remote and customer site-based work as well.

The Junior Service Technician will assist with fulfilling technical and operational duties in support of Unique Subsea Australia’s offering, comprising:

  • Marine and subsea equipment logistics, servicing, repairs and installations
  • Buoyancy and Load Testing equipment logistics, servicing and repairs


Key responsibilities:

  • Work under the direction of the Senior Service Engineer.
  • Carry out testing, maintenance, calibration and packing of company rental equipment ensuring all work is carried out to the appropriate test procedures and standards.
  • Dispatching and receiving rental equipment back from hire.
  • Assist with providing remote or site-based support to clients and colleagues with Company equipment.
  • Become trained and competent with the support and operation of Unique Group Autonomous Survey Vessels.
  • Become trained and competent with the support and operation of Unique Group's Buoyancy and Load Testing equipment.
  • Update maintenance and calibration schedules for rental and test equipment.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices in all areas of the workshop.
  • Update the status of rental assets, job reports and documentation for Company assets.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels to ensure satisfactory information transfer.
  • Required to work at customer premises in Perth region in addition to some remote site-based work in Australia.
  • Junior Service Technician will primarily be working on survey equipment, including positioning, acoustics, remotely operated vehicles, unmanned surface vessels, geophysical, hydrographic, and oceanographic sensors. However, will also be required, to work on Buoyancy and Ballast products (Water Load Bags, Air Lift Bags).


Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Certificate III, IV, or Diploma in Electronics, Instrumentation and Communications or similar field.
  • Work experience in electronics and or communications is desirable.
  • Exposure to maritime or survey industry/equipment highly regarded.
  • High degree of computer literacy and experience with serial and IP communications desirable.
  • Experience in working with basic hand tools.
  • Flexible approach to tasks and roles and a can-do attitude.
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Customer focus.
  • Ability to work to deadlines.
  • Valid Australian drivers’ license.
