Qualification and Experience needed:

  • Proven experience as quality inspector or relevant role for at least 5 years in a manufacturing environment/project driven environment (preferably oil and gas)
  • Certification of quality control is a strong advantage (ISO 9000 etc.)
  • Grade 12 with mathematics as a subject plus a relevant Diploma or Certificate in Quality Assurance and Quality Control (SAIW level 2 or equivalent)

Key Responsibilities – amongst others and not limited to:

Quality Control:

  • Scrutiny & approval of quality control documentation submitted for manufactured product internally
  • Lead quality inspector of externally fabricated product and completion of associated QCP’s & ITP’s
  • Quality assurance of externally received manufacturing data books local and international
  • Health and Safety formal appointee for pressure vessels and other fabrication related responsibilities
  • General maintenance assistance
  • Inspection of material and product at goods receiving based on D365 defined quality order inspection criteria and ensure that accurate D365 defined quality order and non-conformance information is entered on the D365 platform
  • Notify expeditors when supplier quality has failed
  • Inspection of material and product returned to store from the floor which has not been subjected to a final QC signoff on the floor
  • Review and retention of supplier documentation and certification data critical to product compliance
  • Issuing correct documentation to production as required during the picking process
  • Welding inspection NDT review ext.

Incoming Goods Inspection:

  • Report to the Quality Manager and Head of Procurement on any incoming receiving issues that could compromise product quality
  • Conduct inspections for all specified components and materials entering the warehouse and ensuring that it is compliant with order and design specification and contractual requirements
  • Interpret engineering drawings and models to enable accurate quality compliance inspection of externally produced items
  • Select the appropriate measuring device and methodology to confirm that dimensions are according to order and design specification
  • Identify and record non-conformances to specified requirements and to immediately distribute the NC information to the relevant stakeholders using the ERP system
  • Review incoming data books, either initiate or conduct the relevant incoming inspections and function tests - either as first article or entire batch and provide feedback to the Quality and Warehouse Managers
  • Control defective items by segregating them from conforming stock and notifying the relevant stakeholders (quality, production, planning, and procurement)
  • Ensure that measuring equipment used at goods receiving is calibrated (and calibration validity period is always current) if necessary and well maintained for accurate results
  • Ensure that housekeeping is maintained in the incoming quality inspection area by having a place for everything and keeping everything in its place to prevent non-conforming items from entering stock
  • Always attend to inspections within the service level agreement criteria
  • Continuously improve performance based on feedback from KPI’s, team meetings, performance reviews or remedial interventions
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and participate in all health and safety programs
  • Adhere to all environmental management rules and practices and practicing good environmental awareness


  • Above average command in the full MS Office package, Project Management Software packages and experienced in using ERP or similar company management software
