Sonardyne’s Scout USBL is a portable vessel based acoustic positioning system designed to track divers ROVs and AUVs and towfish in waters up to 1,000 metres. The system calculates the position of a subsea transponder by measuring the range (distance) and bearing (heading) from a vessel mounted transceiver to a small acoustic transponder fitted to the asset; a technique known as Ultra-Short BaseLine (USBL) positioning that offers high accuracy performance combined with efficient subsea tracking operations.

Acoustic Coverage ±90° below transceiver.
Accuracy ±2.75% of Slant Range (With integrated heading/pitch/roll sensor)
±0.5% of Slant Range (With external heading/pitch/roll sensors).
Simultaneous tracking of multiple subsea targets, Magnetic heading (0.5deg) and Pitch/Roll (0.25deg).
