Job Overview
The Ballast Electronic Technician will specialize in load testing and coordinating load measurement systems support by providing a range of bags designed to test everything from cranes to flight deck elevators and from bridges to lifeboats, providing a solution for virtually every load testing challenge.
Key Responsibilities
• Responsible for troubleshooting and coordinating load measuring systems (4-20 mA sensor outputs and control signals)
• Calibrate standard load cell product as to company procedures
• Support all warehouse activities (support load cells and water bags)
• Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and service electronic equipment (oscilloscope, DMM, and/or other testing equipment)
• Install (PLC) Programmable Logic Controllers with 4-20 mA to reflect accurate load cell readings
• Must install electrical junction boxes to terminate load cell and PLC
• Inspect and maintain fleet load measurement systems
• Provide great service and customer support during field visits
• Adhere to Business Management System processes and procedures
• Must maintain and practice safety culture by following all QHSE procedures
• Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations/briefing
• Operate lifting equipment; hand trucks and forklift machinery after passing certified training
• Apply and supply loads on cranes, handle various rigging duties
• Assists with customer quoting, coordinating schedules, and vendor transactions
• Other duties as assigned by management
Educational Requirements
• Must have high school diploma
• Must have 2- years of related experience in electronic repair or accredited training program in electronics repair
• Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and service technical equipment (oscilloscope, DMM, and/or other testing equipment)
• OSHA 10- hour, manual handling, Risk Assessment Introduction, Forklift Operator, Water Weights training and various industry training as required
• Must be self-motivated, proactive and have high attention to details and comprehension
• Must have ability to apply concepts of basic algebra/geometry
• Must have excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, organization, communication skills
• Must have valid driver license
Functional Skills
• Must be able to lift up to 65 pounds
• Must be able to stand, bend, sit, use hands to handle, grasp, pull, reach with hands and arms, climb and
maneuver while balancing and carrying objects
for extended periods of time
• Must be able to travel 25% annually
• Exposed to working on dockside and offshore marine sites
• Must work with various weather conditions
