Position Overview

To turn ideas into detailed plans. The purpose of the job is to produce technical drawings to serve as a visual guide during manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out calculations, site visits, measuring, plotting, preparing, and performing layout and detail drawings using as a basis existing projects and sketches or other information received from the engineering department.
• Checking and drafting of design details using 3D modelling.
• Detail drawings in both AutoCAD and SolidWorks that meet or exceed the clients’ needs, budgets, and expectations.
• Liaison with Engineering, Project Department and Workshop.
• Prepare concept drawings whilst applying general engineering drawing principles.
• Reviewing information for completeness and accuracy.
• Produce CAD models and detail manufacturing drawings / Transform CAD drawings into 3D drawings (If required).
• Prepare assembly and detail drawings based on the information and instruction provided.
• Makes necessary calculations for drawing development.
• Prepares and assists in drawing revisions are required.
• Detail drafting of structure, pressure vessels and systems.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
• Do on-site measuring and fault -finding.

• The employee has the AUTHORITY to STOP WORK should an unsafe act or condition be observed to ensure compliance with OH&S regulations and to achieve a ZERO HARM working environment.
• There is an obligation on the employee to report such observations and interventions to the HSE Manager or Management.

Educational Requirements

• B Tech in Mechanical Engineering –Draftsman.
• Grade 12 with mathematics / Relevant Diploma in Drafting – Junior Draftsman.

Related Work Experience

• Previous experience in a similar role and closely related field (Marine or Oil and Gas industry preferred).

Functional Skills

• Proficient in 3D modelling.
• Proficiency in AutoCad and SolidWorks.
• Superior knowledge in Microsoft Office including MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook.
• Full MS Office suite.
• Learning, understanding, and applying relevant codes such as ASME, ABS, DNV, LRS, IMCA, IMO, etc.
• High level of technical competency in the fundamentals of mechanical engineering design. (Mastery of computer-aided design and drafting software, or CAD).
• Some experience in machinery design is preferred but not essential.
• Must possess a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and be goal oriented.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Thoroughness/ attention to detail.
