Position Overview
The Production Lead: Electrical at Unique Hydra (Pty) Ltd will oversee and manage the production, commissioning, and maintenance of equipment and turnkey systems primarily for the Marine and Oil & Gas sectors. The role involves applying engineering principles to plan, execute, and deliver standard and semi-custom production jobs from start to finish. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with strong leadership and technical skills to ensure all activities align with the company’s Integrated Management System (IMS) and meet ISO accreditation standards. The role demands collaboration with cross-functional teams, effective resource management, and adherence to strict quality and timeline requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning: Develop a product realization plan covering all activities (design, procurement, manufacturing, testing, documentation). Allocate human, material, and tool resources effectively.
- Execution: Manage production activities per the realization plan. Implement mitigation plans to address deviations from the schedule.
- Testing: Ensure all products are tested per company policies and applicable industry standards.
- Commissioning: Fully commission all products and systems before delivery.
- Documentation: Complete all required product/system documentation and hand it over to the Configuration Department.
- Packing & Shipping: Ensure safe and neat packing of products for delivery and assist logistics with shipping arrangements.
- Compliance: Execute all activities in compliance with Unique Hydra’s Integrated Management System (IMS) and ISO standards (9000, 14000, 18000).
- Collaboration: Liaise with the design department to resolve design-related manufacturing issues.
Educational Requirements
- National Diploma in Mechatronics/Electrical Engineering (Heavy or Light Current) OR
- Qualified Electrician
Related Work Experience
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in production, commissioning, and maintenance.
- Experience in manufacturing equipment and turnkey systems, ideally in the Marine or Oil and Gas environment.
Functional Skills
- Technical Knowledge
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD or SolidWorks (advantageous).
- Familiarity with ERP software (advantageous).
- Basic understanding of industry codes such as ASME, ABS, DNV, LRS, IMCA, and IMO (advantageous).
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, and OHSAS18001 (advantageous).
