Position Overview
The Senior Technician position specializes in advanced technical support for customers, utilizing cutting-edge survey equipment. Primary responsibilities include overseeing the meticulous preparation, labelling, and comprehensive quality testing of all equipment. The Senior Technician conducts precise calibrations to guarantee the accuracy and reliability of the equipment. Collaboration with global teams is crucial to ensuring the seamless delivery of equipment. The Senior Survey Electronics Technician maintains an up-to-date knowledge of the latest technological advancements in the field. Exceptional customer service is a key aspect, involving addressing technical inquiries promptly and resolving issues efficiently. This role also includes supervising and training Junior Technicians, ensuring adherence to company procedures, and upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, and industry compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer technical support to clients and Junior Technicians.
- Address technical inquiries and provide solutions to equipment-related issues.
- Under general direction, perform functional testing of individual electronics using defined and documented procedures.
- Conduct routine and non-routine testing and analysis of survey equipment.
- Train Junior Technicians on existing survey electronic equipment.
- Guide Junior Technicians to ensure adherence to company procedures.
- Ensure equipment is prepared, labeled, tested, calibrated, and ready for delivery to clients.
- Complete all work orders through the ERP system.
- Verify and examine equipment to meet manufacturing standards and specifications.
- Ensure all equipment is tested, fully functional, and documented.
- Test all equipment during demobilization, following workshop procedures to ensure functionality.
- Inspect and document any faults or missing equipment.
- Ensure accuracy of inventory data in Dynamics 365 system.
- Follow guidelines for inventory control for spares and consumables.
- Report any shortages with equipment or concerns.
- Responsible for verifying that equipment is within calibration specifications.
- Follow and enforce company QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Environment) policies and industry standards.
- Follow processes outlined in company risk assessments and ensure compliance.
- Maintain cleanliness and perform regular maintenance of equipment in the workshop and stores.
- Sign off on training/competencies as required.
- Other duties as assignment by management.
Educational Requirements
- Must have High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience working with electronic equipment.
- Must have prior experience in the Marine Survey industry.
- Proficiency in soldering techniques.
- Ability to read and comprehend wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Experience with various electronic communication protocols including Serial, Ethernet, and Fiber.
- Self-motivated and proactive attitude with a strong focus on attention to detail and comprehension.
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills are vital for success in this role.
- Be accepting to regular feedback, including constructive criticism, as part of our regular performance review process.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and lead others.
- Must be familiar with equipment manufacturers such as Norbit, Sonardyne, Kongsberg, Geometrics, and iXblue.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Functional Skills
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Must be able to sit, use hands to handle, grasp, pull; reach with hands and arms climb, maneuver while balancing and carrying objects.
