Purpose of Role
To play a key role leading a team in the workshop and on site at our clients’ facilities/vessels. The position involves taking the lead in assembling, testing, commissioning and servicing complex structural and mechanical equipment, often including electrical and hydraulic content, for the subsea sector to agreed programs. Tasks will include repair, installation and fault finding in both onshore and offshore environments, working with light and heavy engineering equipment.
The Service Engineer will support the promotion of a culture of health, safety, quality and continuous improvement in all aspects of the workplace. This will be achieved through a safety-first mentality, adherence to good working practices, a proactive approach to quality, the mentoring of employees, excellent standards of housekeeping, constructive feedback and co-operation with all employees across the workplace.
This role requires a minimum of 37.5 hours/week.
Reporting Line: The position reports to the Head of Construction, Subsea Innovation Ltd.
Key Responsibilities
- Work in a safe, controlled and tidy manner.
- Assemble complex structural assemblies to technical drawings and information with minimal supervision.
- Liaise with the Project Engineering Team.
- Ensure a quality build, following agreed assembly & inspection procedures.
- Assist with the production of standard operating procedures.
- Ensure the completion of Production Documentation, Jobcards, Internal Acceptance Tests (IAT), Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and pre-delivery checklists.
- Manage the team on a daily basis, coordinating resources and workload with other Service Engineers and Management.
- Provide technical support and training for customers, which may involve site visits of both a national and international nature, both offshore & onshore.
- Fault finding and detailed reporting when conducting service work.
- Maintenance of workshop tools and machinery.
- Develop, train and mentor team members.
- Provide feedback on all aspects of work.
- Lead by example.
- Promote a Quality, Cost and Delivery work ethic.
Qualifications
- HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience
Minimum of ten years relevant technical experience working on equipment within the Oil & Gas / energy sector. Good customer service skills and a proven ability to make decisions under pressure.

Requirements:
- Valid driving license
- Available to travel conducting Service Visits within the UK & overseasFlexible to work additional hours when required
- Valid Offshore Survival and Medical Certification
- Rigging and Slinging Certification

- Basic machining skills, lathe turning, milling, electrical hand tools

- Welding and fabrication skills, MIG, stick welding for steel products
