Meet Claudine Mannoe who is part of our team in Cape Town. Her journey began in 2008 as a Sales Administrator and has evolved into her current position as a trusted Customer Support Administrator. Beyond her professional role, Claudine finds joy in warm hugs and cherishes the presence of God in her life. Her two daughters radiate as her sunshine, infusing happiness, and courage, while her faithful dog adds an extra dose of bravery to her days.

What motivated you to join the company, and what has kept you here for so many years?
It feels like yesterday, even though time has passed. Back then, the Cape Town branch was known as Hydra Marine, or just Hydra in short. I used to see the Hydra building every day on my way to my old job. I’d gaze at it with awe, feeling like it had a place for me. It pulled me in, and that feeling didn’t go away. So, I mustered my courage and called them. I spoke to Patrick in HR, telling him I was interested in working there but unsure if they had a spot. Luckily, they had an opening for a Sales Administrator. I sent my CV, had an interview the next week with Patrick and Mike Iles, and got a job offer the following week!

Can you share some significant milestones or events that have shaped the company’s growth during your time here?
Diversifying the business model and embracing innovation has been key to shaping the company’s growth.
Back then, Hydra mainly specialised in the design and manufacture of diving and life support equipment for the Oil & Gas industry.
The group has grown and expanded its wings to encompass other lines for trade. To name a few – the dive support DaughterCraft vessel, the initiative to design and supply the purpose-built Uni-Life 100 medical device to benefit high risk cases during the Covid-19 pandemic.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of working with the company for such an extended period?
This is my 15th year with the company, and the journey has been astounding, extraordinary, unique. The years have been and still are educating me in growth, to adapt to challenges, being steadfast in adversity, learning from others and sharing what I know. The most rewarding aspect are the opportunities I have had and the support I have received from my friends, colleagues, mentors, and superiors.

What advice would you give to new employees or those starting their careers in this company?
Take The Time To Think Things Through!

Don’t be quick to tell someone “I promise…” unless you mean it. We are shaped and judged by our words and actions.
Laugh at yourself sometimes, it lightens the mood.

As I conclude, thank you for allowing me to share a glimpse of my journey. I hope that my experiences can inspire others to embrace their careers with positive focus and dedication.
