Unique Group’s Buoyancy & Ballast division successfully completed proof load testing using water bags for up to 660t on a barge crane.
Client Requirement
The client wanted Unique Group to perform proof load testing for 660tonne on a barge crane in a yard in Egypt.
Unique Solution Delivered
The client wanted us to perform the water-filled load testing for four loads on the same barge crane at various angles. The crane was subjected to loads of 110 tonne, 220 tonne, 440 tonne and finally 660-tonne proof load testing.
The project also has a highlight that 660tonne is the largest ever test load Unique Group’s Water Weights brand has executed to date.
We were faced with the challenge of low water pressure on board the barge which caused a delay in the filling up of the water bags. To compensate for the delay in the water filling, Unique Group’s engineers worked for almost 30 hours non-stop to ensure the work was completed within the deadline.
The client was also very satisfied with the huge financial saving they had by choosing Unique Group’s Water Weights brand as our water bags weigh only 2% of their achievable load when transporting for this 4000-mile round trip journey.
