Tell us a little about yourself and your journey with UG.
My experience with the UG Family has been a significant highlight in my life. I embarked on this journey back in 1995, starting at the front desk, got an opportunity to work with incredibly talented individuals. This experience not only fueled my motivation but also propelled my career to new heights, eventually leading me to the role of Executive Office Manager. Looking back, I can confidently state that success is the result of a blend of diverse experiences combined with a commitment to excellence. It’s truly remarkable to witness the company’s growth alongside my own, having been there since its early days with just six employees and seeing it evolve to encompass over 600 employees worldwide.
What motivated you to join the company, and what has kept you here for so many years?
I was on the lookout for a full-time, long-term career opportunity that aligned with my future aspirations. I found a smooth transition into the company and the maritime Industry, characterized by its multicultural work environment, which made me feel like I had found my rightful place. The forward-thinking approach of UG Management and the company’s commitment to its cultural values created a sense of belonging, making me feel like a part of the “Unique Family.”
As they say, time waits for none, but in my case, I progressed hand in hand with Unique, maintaining high spirits alongside the team in every aspect until we achieved growth and positive results. Time seems to pass by in the blink of an eye, and each day offers new opportunities for learning. Therefore, for me, the number of years spent here is merely an illusion when you’re wholeheartedly connected to something as exceptional as Unique Group.
What do you believe are the key factors that have contributed to the company’s longevity and success?
The welcoming open-door policy, flexibility in work, freedom to express oneself, and commitment to diversification stand out as key attributes.
What has been the most rewarding aspect of working with the company for such an extended period?
Material possessions may diminish over time, but trust and respect hold enduring value, to be cherished for all time. During my tenure, I am pleased to affirm that I have garnered both trust and respect from my superiors, colleagues, and loyal clients of our esteemed company. I have consistently demonstrated my reliability, efficiency in problem-solving, and a commitment to delivering results. In my role as Executive Office Manager, I take great pride in surpassing expectations and providing on time support. The recognition and appreciation I receive from my superiors and peers inspire me to keep learning and enhancing my abilities.
What advice would you give to new employees or those starting their careers in this company?
Unique Group is like a university where one can accumulate a wealth of knowledge, with the depth of that knowledge depending on individual interests and preferences.
How would you describe the company’s culture and work environment during your early years compared to the present day?During the initial stages of my journey with the company, I experienced a sense of being a part of a small, amicable family. We cultivated a close-knit atmosphere, where sharing meals and conversations with individuals from all positions and departments was the norm. Management was more accessible and approachable, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie and teamwork.
Over time, the company has expanded significantly, establishing offices worldwide. Despite this growth, the core values have remained steadfast. It’s true that I may not know everyone by name, but our approach to treating our colleagues as family has remained unchanged.
