Unique Group successfully completed a 1400t proof load test using Water Weights proof load test bags on a Cimolai mobile boat hoist at the La Spezia Shipyard in Italy.
Client Requirement
The client, Baglietto, wanted to perform a proof load test on their mobile boat hoist as a part of their scheduled inspection. Water Weights proof load testing was chosen as using water bags is easier and more cost-effective than transporting massive solid weights.
Unique Solution delivered
Unique Group in partnership with ATS in Italy, executed the 1400t load test using twelve of our massive 110t capacity Water Weights load testing bags. In addition to assisting with the load test, the team also provided rigging, load test diagrams and load test plans as part of the work scope.
The natural teardrop shape of the Water Weights proof load bags ensured that the load test was smooth and balanced in comparison with using a barge. Our team increased the load gradually to perform the test to enable safe operations.
Specially designed spreader beams from Ciomolai weighing a total of 80t were used to evenly distribute the Water Weight proof load bags. The entire project was completed within 3 days. This is another achievement for Unique Group as this was the largest mobile boat hoist proof load test completed in Europe.
