To operate a Self Propelled Hyperbaric Lifeboat (SPHL) during emergency evacuation and normal sea trials Oceanwide SaS (OCW) has developed a special type of davit.
A typical confi guration consists of:
- Two davit arms
- Installed shock absorbing system on the davit arms
- Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU)
- A set of accumulators to operate the system in “Dead Ship” conditions
- Winch with hydraulic motor and centrifugal brake
- Top side deck supports with stainless steel saddle to support the SPHL in stowed position
The HPU and accumulators are normally placed in a closed environment near the davits, as option they can be placed in a 10’ container on deck.
Some benefits from the new Oceanwide SaS (OCW) davit system are:
- More effective installation on board by reducing the full weld to deck of the 20mm foundation plates by 45 %
- Reduced number of main cylinders (1 cylinder per arm)
- Shock absorbers integrated in davit arm design and pre- installed Reduced number of external hydraulic pipes from HPU Room to Boat deckWinch with lower design, enabling same winch to be used in port and star-board configurations
- Optional, davit configuration for reduced deck width
- The complete davit system can be transported in a single 40’ open top container to its destination.
